Inspiration

The area where I live in Middle Tennessee is blessed with many beautiful, sugar maple trees along with many other majestic hardwoods.  These areas are ideal habitat for a flourishing whitetail deer population.

Often deer hide in the shadows and leaves of trees as people go by.

Deer in Maple Leaves #########

Carved from the root of a black walnut tree this very hard, dark wood hides a Whitetail Deer buck hiding behind maple leaves.  The leaves are deeply undercut to give depth to the animal hiding behind them.

This carving can be seen at Samith Gallery in Centerville, Tennessee.
