I found a photograph of this old Crow Indian brave in a calendar of photographs by Edward S. Curtis.  This old Native American lived in Montana in 1908.

Wood Carving: Hoop on Forehead

Apparently photographed at age 50, this man wore his hair in a distinctive style.  The carving features extensive wood burning of fine hair details.  I blackened his coat with a torch to achieve the look of worn leather.
