The Inspiration

This work is based on a pencil sketch of Quanah Parker, the last, great Comanche Chief.  This man is framed by very old, very weathered tulip poplar siding from an old barn on our farm.  The figure is carved from a single block of wood cut from a tree that washed up on our river bank.  With extensive wood burning for effect, the wood color is natural.  The ear rings are carved from a deer antler.
