Ostein
With a smile on his face and an entertaining story in his heart, Ostein was my Dad's best friend and brother-in-law.
Inspiration
Ostein was my Dad's best childhood friend who married my mother's sister. A meticulous man, Ostein was a retired airplane mechanic who loved gardening, hunting, fishing, wild flowers, the virgin forests of the Smokey Mountains, shooting, and storytelling. The source photograph for my carving tells all as it caught him elbowing my Dad during one of his stories.
The carving of Ostein sits proudly on my Dad's mantle where it watches my Dad sitting in his favorite chair.
