Inspiration

After traveling to Ghana and living with a family for about two weeks, I came to appreciate their hard work.  Starting at daybreak with the sweeping of the yard, cooking over an open fire, washing clothes by hand, their day never ended.  Sometimes taking a break, they napped on a hard wooden bench outside.  If only we could be so orderly and clean!

Wood Carving: Tired

This seated African woman slumps with tired shoulders at the end of the day.  This carving is on display at Samitch Gallery in Centerville, Tennessee.
